Dear Member
Club Championships are played in the month of May and they bring a lot of excitement to all Club Members. The course was equally prepared to match this major Club event and congratulations to those who won and to the rest better luck next year. As we move into winter the greens are starting to take hold and have produced a much better playing surface.
2017 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Club Championships was a great success and we thank our sponsor Doves Holdings that got behind this event.

The 2017 Men Club Championships were held from the 6th -7th of May 2017. There were over 170 entries for this Championship and was one of the most subscribed tournament this year, one wouldn’t miss. Unfortunately every game has one winner and the most impressive performance came from one of the junior golfers. Congratulations to David Amm for winning the 2017 Men’s Club Championship. We would like to thank the Ladies Section for their assistance at the tee boxes and making sure these Championships were a success.

CHAPMAN LADIES SECTION
News from the Lady Captain
Chapman Ladies Section was able to host a competitive, challenging and yet fun 2017 Ladies Club Championship. A field of 32 ladies reported early morning of 13 and 14 May to compete in this challenging tournament. Very early some of us once again realized that Club Champs is just different to any other competition you play shots and end up in places seldom seen on the golf course. The stroke one sixth hole claimed many victims whilst the Chapman mascot was keeping a close eye. We learned quickly that in order to clear the water you either take one more club or 3 more balls.
We ended the 2017 Club Champs fashionably with a lunch sponsored by Doves Holdings and prize-giving. We were so happy to share this special event with Fiona Robertson and other lesser spotted ladies.
We are proud to announce that the ladies club champion for 2017 is the stunning young star – Emily Jones. In the second place was the equally talented young Margaret Nyamukondiwa. The rest of the results were as follows
A Division
Winner: Jean McKenzie
Runner – up: Keara O’Toole
B Division
Winner: Deirdre Dickenson
Runner – up: Ursula Malan
C Division
Winner: Jeanette Hetherton
Runner – up: Sarah Gumbie

Chapman Golf Club Practice Range.
- Ladies Clinics are held every second Saturday, $10 per player. Chapman Members get 20% discount when using their Chapman swipe card.
- Congratulations to the 2017 Ladies Club Champion, Emily Jones and the Men’s Club Champion, David Amm. Emily and David both received a voucher from Golf4u. The voucher entitles them to 50 range balls every time that they come to practice their golf.
- Srixon in South Africa are still awaiting new stock. We hope to get our order in as soon as they can supply us. Any inconvenience caused by the shortage of balls is regretted. Thank you for your patience at the busy times.
- Please note our winter closing time on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays is now 5.30pm. Last balls will be sold at 5pm.
- We have noticed that any time we put new range balls into circulation they soon go missing. Our range staff do collect stray balls that have been hit out of the range area, but the main concern we have is that some players, caddies and Chapman ground staff are finding our range balls all over the course even as far as the 14th hole!!! They are mainly used for “water balls”. Please note players are prohibited to use practice range balls on the golf course. We ask that if you see any player using our Srixon range balls on the golf course to please report them to golf admin or to the range staff. The range balls have a solid line on them and do not have a number like the proper golf balls. Any assistance with this matter is very much appreciated.
