FAIRWAYS TO GREENS

We will be over the next weeks be doing general course maintenance/improvements generally:

1) The 150 meter markers will be replaced with new Cycads kindly donated by the Zimbabwe Cycad Society to who we are truly grateful. Relief from Ball, Stance and Swing for all players under the rule of immovable obstruction Rule 24:2 as per the R&A Golf Rules as well as to protect our plants. This relief applies to all newly planted staked trees.

2) Car park improvements in the way of cleaning up and improving the club and course. We appeal to members, players and their guests to avoid littering and to do they bit to place litter, and waste in the bins so provided.

3) The greens will be edged shortly and a buffer around them to prevent foreign grass growing into the greens. Relief options available if the ball lies within. “Please repair your spike marks and ball pitching marks on the greens.

4) The fairways are crying for water, a challenge we are facing at the moment please assist by repairing all your divots with sand from your sand bags.

LOCAL Rule

5) GUINEA FOWL SAND BATHS WORKINGS ARE DEEMED ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS. IF A PLAYERS BALLS LIES IN SUCH A CONDITION THROUGH THE GREEN THEY MAY TAKE RELIEF. THE PLAYER MUST LIFT THE BALL AND DROP IT, WITHOUT PENALTY, WITHIN ONE CLUB LENGTH OF AND NOT NEARER THE HOLE THAN THE NEAREST POINT OF RELIEF.

6) No.9 Objects in a Bunker

7) A Simple Q&A for all the players to brush up on the rules

Questions:
A player’s ball lies in a bunker close to several objects. Which objects may be removed from the bunker without penalty?
a) A score card
b) A can
c) A leaf

8)
d) A plastic bag
e) A twig
f) The player’s own glove

  1. g) The player’s own ball marker
  2. h) An abandoned tee peg
  3. i) A loose divot of grass

Answers: The player may remove a), b), d), f), g), and h) as these are all movable obstructions.

The player may not remove c), e) and i) as these are loose impediments, except that a divot made by another player after the ball was at rest in the bunker, may be removed, as a player is entitled to the lie that his stroke gave him. Definitions of Loose Impediments and Obstructions.

That’s all from the G&F Team
