FAIRWAYS TO GREENS

August, September a time for trees to regenerate, to be planted.

In practicing the National Tree Planting philosophy of “Plant a Tree, and Create a Forrest”

Chapman has recently planted 33 indigenous Young Trees starting on the first nine.

We hope in time these will replace some of the foreign trees that have over the years been gracing our course.

We as well have received a kind donation of 29 Coffee trees, kindly donated by Nyaradzo Funeral Services which we will be planting around the course in due course.

Any other tree donations are more than welcome as well as constructive ideas.

All playing members are respectfully asked to assist in caring for these young trees that will be staked.

All players please note, should these young staked trees and their cultivated bowls, unfortunately be affecting your, BALL, STANCE or SWING,

You Must Take relief under Rule 25-1 “ Abnormal Ground Condition” Please read the Rule to understand your options!!!!

Continual clean up around the course is ongoing and we respectfully ask all members and guests to use the litter bins.

Please repair your DIVOTS…….

On the new putting greens herewith an update from Management:

1 The Bent has come through without any problem. The ground has firmed up and the grass can be cut down to a level that will allow members to putt on it. This will be available in the next seven days.

2 The Bermuda failed to germinate. I have done extensive research on the problem and consulted Ian and Beefy. The general consensus is that it was too cold. All research points to an optimum temperature of above 22 degrees C during the germination period. We now have these temperatures during the day with the evening in the upper teens. We intent to reseed this section in the coming days and expect germination within ten days. With the current fertilizing regime coupled with the heat it should be no problem.

Fairways

The pump (plus 20 odd years old) has been repaired by a member of Chapman you will know and we are now able to pump water from No 5 reservoirs up to number 1 fairway. This should see a notable improvement in the condition of the fairways together with the tobacco scraps recently spread.

The old valves and pipe work were also repaired… we await the next challenge..

Repairs our ongoing challenge!!!!
