Memberships

Chapman is one of the most challenging and interesting golf courses in Harare. It’s picturesque course with water features are a test for the best golfers in the country. If you would like to be a part of the Chapman family we offer the following Membership categories to suit your needs:

Full Male Member
Entitled to all the privileges of the club and together with Honorary Life Members or Life Members are the only gentlemen members entitled to vote.

Lady Members
Honorary Life, Life and Full Playing Members shall be permitted to play on all days except Saturday afternoon and when Men’s or other major competitions are held. Such Lady Members shall be allowed to play on Saturday afternoon when permitted to do so by the Board of Management. At present six times are allocated to Lady Members at the front of the Men’s Saturday afternoon field.

 

Country Members

Country Members shall be those members residing not less than 40kms from the Harare Post Office. The Board of Management shall decide whether a member shall be regarded as a Country Member. Country Members shall have the same rights and privileges as Full Paying members, but shall not be entitled to vote.

Limited Members
Limited Members shall have no vote and are those members permitted to play on all days EXCEPT SATURDAY AFTERNOON and SUNDAY MORNINGS unless authorised by the Club Manager or his Deputy in order to fill vacancies in the field. Limited Members may not compete in the Club Championships.

House Members
House Members are those members permitted to use the Club House but are not permitted to play on the course without payment of VISITORS GREEN FEES and shall not qualify for a club handicap, or a vote.

Absentee Members
An Absentee Member shall be a member who is absent from Zimbabwe for SIX or more consecutive months and who previously informs the Manager of his proposed absence, and obtains the approval of the Board of Management at its sole discretion for his transfer to this category. He shall be entitled to re-commence his previous category of membership without the payment of an entrance fee.

Junior Members
Junior Members shall be persons aged under 19 years and who at the discretion of the Board of Management have been elected as Junior Members. Transfer to any other class of membership on attaining the age of nineteen years shall be on application to and at the discretion of the Board of Management.

Student Members (19 to 25 year olds)
Unsalaried Student Members shall be persons providing proof of full time tertiary study. Such membership shall only apply for the period of the tertiary study and shall cease upon completion or termination of that tertiary study. Any member applying for transfer to this class does not, as of right, revert to any previous category of membership but shall make application to transfer when this class of membership ceases. The Board of Management shall have the sole discretion as to the admission of the types of members accepted.

Intermediate Members
Intermediate Members shall be persons aged between 19 and 25 who are not students. The Board of Management shall have the sole discretion as to the admission of the types of members accepted.

Senior Members (Men)
Senior Gentlemen members must be 60 years of age and over and have been a continuous fully paying member for a minimum of 15 years to qualify for this category of membership. Senior members shall have no vote and will be permitted to play on the course mornings only from Monday to Friday. This class of member shall be entitled to full use of the Club’s facilities. The Board of Management shall have the sole discretion as to the admission of members in this category.

Senior Members (Ladies)
Senior Lady members must be 60 years of age and over and have been a continuous fully paying member for a minimum of 15 years to qualify for this category of membership. Senior Lady members shall have no vote and will be permitted to play on the course mornings only from Monday to Friday. They may also be allowed to play in the Thursday and Saturday ladies’ competitions and in the Ladies Club Championships. This class of member shall be entitled to full use of the Club’s facilities. The Board of Management shall have the sole discretion as to the admission of members in this category.

Railway Members
In recognition of certain benefits conferred upon the Club by the National Railways of Zimbabwe for so long as the Club shall be in possession of the Chapman Golf Course or any part thereof, the Club may accept a Membership of up to a maximum of FIFTY (50) bona fide employees or pensioners of the NATIONAL RAILWAYS OF ZIMBABWE or its successors. Such members shall be designated as Railway Members and shall in every respect be entitled to all facilities to which other members are entitled, subject to the Rules of the Club; except they shall not be required to pay entrance fee or subscription and also that they shall not be entitled to vote at a General Meeting. No persons other than those nominated by the Raylton Athletic Club or its successors shall be eligible for Railway Membership of the Club.
